Hello! Metanaut is a small award-winning team of virtual reality enthusiasts who are passionate about building a better future. We’ve been creating VR apps & games for over 5 years now! Our focus is to develop VR experiences that spark a sense of wonder and make a positive impact on the world.
We’re expanding the size of our team to work on a brand new VR experience that will knock your socks off.
What the project is:
A richly interactive VR experience where users explore a growing collection of short episodic experiences. Each of these experiences lasts about 10~15 minutes and takes place in a completely different environment and focuses on a unique, never-before-seen VR concept or interaction mechanic. It will become the ultimate playground for exciting VR ideas not found anywhere else!
You’ll be creating a wide variety of art assets that have the following characteristics: stylized (but not cartoonish), realistically proportioned, low-poly, with minimal use of textures. The art style we’re after (accomplished by our shader) is a unique industrial design / architectural sketch look. Successful candidates are well-versed in a wide range of art-related work ranging from 3D modeling environments / props / characters, UV / texturing, rigging, and animating.


  • Conceptualize & design low poly environments, props, characters
  • Create 3D models, textures, UV mapping, rigging, basic hard surface animations
  • Adhere to and improve pipelines & workflows
  • Contribute innovative and creative ideas on all aspects of virtual reality design and development
  • Collaborate with the Technical Artist in resolving any technical issues and/or improving your work
  • May train, mentor, or supervise the work of other 3D artists
  • Participate in daily scrum meetings and weekly design & sprint meetings
  • Track tasks using Toggl


  • Must have Canadian citizenship or PR
  • 4+ years of experience in 3D modeling for use in Unity-based games (3DS Max, Maya or Blender)
  • Experience creating realistically proportioned 3D work
  • Strong experience in modeling, texturing, UV mapping, rigging, animating
  • Excellent communication skills for conveying ideas verbally, over text, and through sketches
  • Dedicated to creating high quality work
  • Disciplined without needing constant supervision in a home environment
  • Punctual with deadlines
  • Disciplined and self-driven without needing constant supervision in a home environment

Nice to haves:

  • Proficiency in drawing and sketching
  • Experience working on a VR game or Unity-based mobile game
